Lindt Truffle Taste Test: Double Chocolate vs. Milk vs. Dark

Famed Swiss chocolatier Lindt is possibly best known for their creamy, spherical “Lindor” truffles, which come in a variety of flavors. (See my list of the Top 10 Best Lindt Truffles.)

I’ve long been a fan of the classic milk chocolate truffle: it’s hard to beat, which is why so many of my favorite truffles are similar to it.

Even though I…(incoherent mumbling)...(INCOHERENT MUMBLING)...I SAID I DON’T LIKE DARK CHOCOLATE! There, I said it! Ugh, how many times must I humiliate myself with my toddler-esque chocolate preferences? Anyway, even though I don’t particularly like dark chocolate, the dark chocolate Lindor truffle is pretty good. It’s not a strong dark chocolate at all, so the creamy center and mildness really work for me.

Teehee.

Enter: Double Chocolate.

Like the kid at vampire school who is super handsome but has a dark and troubling past, double chocolate Lindor truffles are milk chocolate on the outside with a self-described “intense” chocolate filling (it’s a dark chocolate filling, guys). And, if you have the sense of humor of a nine-year-old, they have a laughably boobie-reminiscent appearance.

What actually is “Double Chocolate” and how is it different from other Lindt Lindor truffle flavors?

Double Chocolate comes in a dark red and brown wrapper and is described as having a milk chocolate shell with an intense chocolate filling. As I described above in my vampire analogy, it tastes to me like the same filling as the Dark flavor (blue wrapper).

The sweet, milk chocolate shell unsurprisingly goes well with the smooth and mildly dark filling. It would be kind of hard for this combination not to work, to be honest.

I like Double Chocolate probably a bit more than regular Dark, but Milk still reigns supreme for me overall.
