“Flamin’ Hot” Cheetos, Doritos, Funyuns for some reason (I’ve never gotten an answer to who even eats those), and even beef jerky have taken middle schools everywhere by storm in the past few years.
Flamin’ Hot chips are hot enough to have a kick without making anyone cry but they’re intensely red-colored (red = SUPER SPICY, DUH), making them immensely popular with twelve-year-olds trying to show how badass they are. Those with more sophisticated palates (some grown-ups, I guess) recognize that “hot” doesn’t always go with “flavorful”.
Don’t get me wrong–I love hot and spicy food, but I’ve generally been pretty underwhelmed by Flamin’ Hot chips. The only thing they bring to the table is some “hot” and a lot of “red”, and the original flavor of the chips gets kind of lost.
However, when I saw Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch Doritos, I knew I had to give them a try. Cool Ranch was always my favorite chip as a kid. My house wasn’t a ranch dressing house, so I was starved for those sweet, sweet ranch flavors.
You know what? Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch Doritos are pretty damn good. They taste like Cool Ranch, only hot. That classic Cool Ranch flavor we all know and love is not diminished at all, but rather enhanced by the hotness. It works!
To date, Flamin’ Hot Cool Ranch Doritos have to be the best Flamin’ Hot flavor I’ve tried.
Coca-Cola Creations has a flavor co-created with AI called “Y3000”. Does it taste as dumb as it sounds?
