Review: Maple Lindt Lindor Truffle

The Swiss chocolatier, Lindt, is famous for their little truffle balls of various flavors. While their basic flavors like milk, dark, and white chocolate are beloved favorites, they also put out seasonal offerings, like Maple Milk Chocolate.

I know some people love it, but I can’t say I care that much for maple unless it’s syrup on pancakes. I don’t dislike it; it’s just not my preference. So, although I was curious, I was also a bit skeptical of the Maple Milk Chocolate Lindt Lindor truffle.

After unwrapping the maple Lindor truffle from its dark brown wrapper, I found that it looks exactly like the Milk Chocolate truffle. It has a promisingly gentle maple aroma, and, in fact, appears to be the Milk Chocolate truffle with a little bit of added maple flavoring. There are no complaints from me there: my favorite Lindor truffles tend to be the milk chocolate-based ones.

Indeed, the truffle has just a hint of maple to it, which is, I think, a good thing. The maple flavor doesn’t really taste like natural maple, so if it were any stronger it would probably taste too overwhelmingly artificial.

The Verdict

Maple freaks (Canadians and/or Vermonters, I assume, based entirely on stereotypes) might actually be disappointed in this one, since it doesn’t have a very strong taste of maple. I probably wouldn’t choose it on purpose, but I also woudn’t be opposed to eating it again.
